A 36-mile ultra marathon starting at sea level and climbing to the 10,023 ft. summit of Haleakala, legendary "Home of the Sun." This challenging course, is not for the novice marathoner. entrants must be 18 years or older and rigorously prepared to meet the challenge of the strict 10-hour time limit. The Run to the Sun is one of the Valley Isle Road Runners signature races. It is a VERY difficult and COSTLY event to organize and direct. This race loses money even when we have the maximum amount of runners. Because of the beauty and uniqueness the Valley Isle Road Runners along with the Hawaii Ultra Running Team want to keep it alive indefinitely for everyone to enjoy, or more correctly, endure. In order to do this we need YOUR HELP!
This event requires the help of many volunteers and we are in need of many more to help with all aspects of this race.  If you are interested please contact
Bram via e-mail
Many Mahalos to all our past participants and this years racers, organizers and volunteers
