Southshore. Kihei, Wailea & Makena
With lots of sunshine and scenic ocean views, the southshore area of Kihei, Wailea, and Makena is ideal for running. The majority of the island's multi-sport events are held here. You will find flat & fast conditions in Kihei; rolling hills in Wailea and Makena; and a combination of the two as you head to the lava fields of La Perouse. Be sure to wear a hat and sunscreen, and carry water with you, despite the fact that you might be able to fill up at some of the beach parks. Below are the mileage points for out & back runs, starting from the Kamaole Beach Park I in Kihei. After your run, you can enjoy a refreshing dip or swim a few laps in the ocean...the Kam I beach happens to be favorite that the local swimmers go to.
